Matt and Katie's workshop
This past Saturday I had the opportunity to attend a workshop taught by Matt and Katie, who are wedding photographers based in Australia (http://mattandkatieblog.com.au/). They were great teachers and I ended up thinking a lot about who I am as a photographer, my style, what I love to shoot and what doesn't thrill me. The topic was confidence and it's almost like they gave us permission to be ourselves. They taught us that it's okay to focus on (pardon the pun) what fulfills us without apology or attempting to be everything to every client.
In the afternoon we practiced shooting four couples. Our goal was to make the photos flow while people on both sides of the camera were relaxed and had fun. The models were a blast to work with and they were all great sports about it being 45 degrees outside while they were in wedding dresses and shirtsleeves. It was so fun to hang out and interact with fellow local photographers (and one from Georgia!). Here are some of my favorite shots from that day.
Katie and Matt (they are so funny and open and knowledgeable):
The lovely Dana. We had good talks about kids and dogs. (And she does NOT have a cigarette in her mouth ;-)).
Natalie and Caleb (cutest couple ever):
Britney and Johnny (these two were HILARIOUS. Aren't they beautiful?):

Malinna and Rayne were so cute and so good at the serious shots!
